Welcome to GIGrafx
This is the new home of Gary Ingram Grafx (further noted as 'GIGrafx'). For those of you that are familiar with my past sites, you can expect much the same type of website, though without the weight of all the graphics. For those new, my websites have contained, over these past 8-9 years, information pertaining to a wide selection of available software for use in graphics production, as well as various available alternative 'shells' for the Win32 platform. As for remaining content, I have covered a few of the Linux Distros that I have managed to use and modify.
As you may have noticed, this site was built using a CMS (Content Management System). My past sites were all HTML sites, coded using KompoZer for layouts, then using text editors to get the coding within validation. (PSPad under the Win32 platform, then Quanta+, or Bluefish, while within the realms of Linux). Under either platform I had chosen to use TIDY to clean up and validate my coding. Now, I am placing validation under control by the CMS itself. For me, this is a big difference. With this being the case, I will be able to concentrate more on content, instead of how things are coded. For some reason I feel as though I were being irresponsible... Though I have set up CMS sites for others in the past, I have always preferred coding my personal sites by hand. Who knows, I may end up going back to hard coding my sites in text editors again. I'll give this an honest try first.
This website was built using the MODx CMS. The template used for this site was the modXhost template. No, it doesn't resemble the modXhost template any longer! All modifications to the template were done by me, including modifications to theme graphics, layout, and CSS elements. Where I once favored Mambo - Open Source as my pick in CMS applications, I have found a new preference... MODx.
